Finally sitting down to do some of the art I was planning for the 30 Days of TAH Extravaganza. Sparks, Red, and Croach, discussing Red's efforts to sort out her heritage.

Day 8: Sparks Nevada Universe Episodes: The musical episode (e070 The Piano Has Been Thinking) was amazing, just because I'm a sucker for that kind of integration of lyrics and plot.

And e170 Inventor-y is possibly my favorite standalone episode. Sparks geeking out over Dr. Ardison, celebrated inventor of robot fists, was darned cute. Even as it was hilarious to see how Dr. Ardison herself (and Croach's deadpan reactions to her) was a terrible, terrible person.

Plus, all the Pemily Stallwark episodes. (More on her later, possibly.)

Day 12: Sparks Nevada Quotes: There's a lot of good and clever writing in this show, but honestly, I don't think I've ever laughed at anything in this show quite as hard as that time when a drunk Croach cut Sparks off with a belligerent "I'M FROM EARTH."

Plus, everything the Science Beings say. (Hopefully more on them later too.)

Caveat: Sparks Nevada is the one TAH segment where I cringe at some of the jokes. Mostly in the early episodes, where they're still figuring out how to parody the racism in old-timey Westerns (and the old-timey West in general), and sometimes it just ends up sounding kinda racist. If you're new to TAH, maybe brace yourself for that going in.

...and then there's e177 Wild, Wild Quest. Which has a subplot of "law enforcement mistakes a gathering of innocent people for a threat based on their appearance, and kills them all." And it's supposed to be funny, and the one survivor's anger and grief are played for laughs. I recommend Sparks in general, but with a big red asterisk about staying away from #177 unless you're ready to either (a) compartmentalize like hell or (b) feel upset and tired.
